In Memory of Bob “Pop” Carson

DSC_0650-(2).jpeg

On Saturday, March 21, 2020; Robert Carson Sr. passed away unexpectedly and he has left a huge hole in the hearts of his family and our club members.

Bob has loved cars and drag racing for most of his life and he was the driving force behind "Carson Competition Racing". His love of our sport was passed onto his 2 sons, who actively campaign their '55 Chevy and '53 Ford at our club events. Bob's older son, Robert Jr., is our current Points Champion; and Bob's younger son Ron, actually drives the Ford gasser that his dad raced when he was just a young "Jersey Guy".

The Carson family has always been larger than life, and their presence at the races is something to behold. There was always something going on at the "Carson Compound" and many times Bob, and his precious wife MaryAnne, were seen driving around the pits in support of their sons. Many of us affectionately called him "Pop," and I know Karen and I will miss seeing Pop at the track, but we know that Robert Jr. and Ron will continue to carry his spirit with them each and every time they head down the quarter-mile.

May our God comfort and bless the entire Carson family and all of the many friends that Bob had. The East Coast Gassers has lost a good friend and a man who truly loved working on and racing cars.
